Last Bukvin bookstore in Kurgan closing

In Kurgan, the last store of the Bukvin book chain at 55 Kuibyshev Street is closing. This is evidenced by a notice on the store«s door. The store is having a sale not only of books, stationery, newspapers, and magazines, but also of furniture, retail equipment, and cash registers. Those interested can even buy baskets or carts.
“Books are getting more expensive, so there are fewer and fewer buyers. That’s why we are closing. We are a Kurgan chain; we had several stores, and now the last one will close in a month,” a store salesperson told a correspondent from 45.RU. She also cited competition from online marketplaces and the fact that city residents have started reading less as reasons for the closure.
The sales floor has half-empty shelves with books, but there is still some selection. The sale will last until the end of February. After that, the store will close permanently.
