Are Northern Allowances in Arkhangelsk Being Canceled?
Northern allowances are federal salary supplements for workers in Russia«s Far North regions.
Unknown individuals are sending information to Telegram channels that northern allowances to salaries (percentage surcharges for working in the conditions of the Far North and equivalent areas) are going to be removed in Arkhangelsk Region.
A fabricated screenshot mimicking a local news site spread false claims about ending northern benefits.
An illustration circulating online resembles a screenshot from one of Arkhangelsk Region«s media outlets. It states that the decision to eliminate allowances was made by regional authorities. There is also a »comment« from the Ministry of Finance. But in reality, no such news was published on that site— the information is fake.
The press service of the Government of Arkhangelsk Region explained to 29.RU that these allowances are established at the federal level and cannot be cancelled at the regional level.
