Annual Inflation in Tula Region Rises to 7.28%

Annual inflation in the Tula region accelerated to 7.28% in June 2026, up from 6.12% in May, according to the Bank of Russia. The regional rate exceeded the national average of 6.02% recorded in June.

Month-on-month, prices in the Tula region rose by 1.19% in June. The most notable increase was in services — up 2.02% compared with May. Non-food goods rose by 1.23%, while food products increased by 0.58%.
Excluding seasonal factors, prices rose faster in June than in May. The Bank of Russia attributed this to reduced supply of certain food and non-food items, as well as rising costs for service providers.
The annual growth rate for food products in the Tula region stood at 3.67% in June, up from 3.26% in May.
Among food items, vegetables used in the traditional borshch soup set saw the sharpest price hikes. Fruit and vegetable prices rose month-on-month due to dwindling stocks of last year«s harvest, while the new crop had not yet reached stores. However, over the past 12 months, fruit and vegetables became 5.62% cheaper.
Greenhouse vegetable prices also increased following a period of notable declines in previous months. Sugar prices rose as processing of last year«s sugar beet harvest ended and the new harvest had not yet been collected. Over the year, sugar became 9.33% more expensive.
In contrast, egg prices fell thanks to increased production in the region and greater market supply. However, over the past 12 months, eggs still rose by 4.94%.
The annual growth rate for non-food goods in the Tula region climbed to 7.77% in June from 6.59% in May.
Among non-food items, motor fuel prices saw the largest increase. The Bank of Russia explained this as a temporary drop in production volumes due to maintenance at some oil refineries, combined with higher summer demand. Over the past 12 months, fuel prices surged by 23.93%.
Printed publications also became more expensive due to higher raw material and printing service costs, as well as increased labor expenses. Over the year, their cost rose by 2.85%.
At the same time, fur product prices declined due to seasonal drop in demand. Over 12 months, the cost of such products fell by 2.25%.
Passenger car prices also fell due to seasonal demand declines and persistently high auto loan rates. However, over the year, car prices increased by 7.43%.
The highest price growth was recorded in the services sector. The annual growth rate for services in the Tula region reached 12.04% in June, up from 9.77% in May.
In June, mobile communication service costs rose after one of the operators operating in the region raised tariffs. Over the year, telecommunications service prices increased by 17.13%.
Foreign tour prices also rose due to the start of the vacation season and the weakening ruble. Over the past 12 months, the cost of overseas holidays increased by 7.02%.
Meanwhile, sanatorium and health resort services became cheaper as some residents opted for vacations without medical treatment or trips abroad. Despite the June price decline, such services were 13.98% more expensive over the year.
The Bank of Russia noted that it would continue its monetary policy aimed at reducing inflation to the target level.
