Samara Waste Operator to Take Control of Volga Islands
Additional waste collection points will be set up at the island recreation bases.
Waste removal organization will be set up at the Samara recreation bases. The regional authorities reported this after inspecting the islands of Podzhabny, Golodny, Rozhdestvensky, and others.
«I have set the task for Ekologiya (Ecology JSC) to check the availability of contracts with legal entities operating on the Volga islands. The municipality needs to assess the volume of waste accumulation and, if necessary, equip the sites with additional containers. We need transparent accounting of removal, clear schedules for each summer season. In the near future, we will adjust the scheme of locations for waste collection taking into account the fairway,» said regional Minister of Natural Resources Artyom Efimov.
During the inspection on the Samara islands, 22 tourist bases were found without contracts for waste removal. In the near future, the regional operator Ekologiya will sign contracts with all entrepreneurs and draw up a schedule for waste removal.
Additional waste collection sites and loading points will also be placed at the island recreation bases. At the request of the tourist base owners, the waste removal season will be extended — from the start of navigation to its end.
At the same time, the Samara region has one less landfill. This is Preobrazhenka, which stopped operating in early 2026.
