In recent days, residents of Tyumen have been widely reporting an unpleasant smell and taste of tap water. The quality of the resource has significantly deteriorated, causing concern among residents.
Rospotrebnadzor published a recommendation to boil water in an open container before use. The agency explained: «According to research as of July 20, 2026, the water meets safety standards and has no toxic effects; the content of heavy metals does not exceed maximum permissible concentrations. Due to non-compliance of drinking water with organoleptic indicators (smell, taste), it is recommended to boil water in an open container before consumption.»
At Rosvodokanal, the reason for the deterioration in quality was attributed to the summer flood and a critical decrease in oxygen levels in the river due to recharge from swamp waters. Company representatives assured that the water is safe for health.
