Employees of Rosprirodnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Use) conducted another unscheduled inspection at the Nizhny Novgorod Aeration Station and once again found environmental violations at the facility. A new order was issued to the Unified Municipal Operator (OKO), according to the regional office of the supervisory authority.
Last year, Rosprirodnadzor conducted several inspections at the Nizhny Novgorod Aeration Station (NSA). At that time, inspectors identified numerous violations at the enterprise, and management was held administratively liable and instructed to address the issues.
«However, as the latest inspection showed, the legal requirements of the supervisory authority were not fully complied with. JSC OKO continues to systematically shirk its direct responsibilities for complying with environmental protection requirements,» the agency noted.
In total, specialists found 12 unaddressed violations at the facility. Among them, for example, low efficiency of the treatment facilities and exceeding the discharge standards for manganese, copper, and petroleum products in wastewater samples. The enterprise continues to have a negative impact on the Volga River.
As for air pollution, at one of the emission sources, the standards for hydrogen sulfide were exceeded by 9.5 times. Violations were also identified in the area of waste management. It turned out that garbage from the sewer protection grilles is stored on unequipped sites.
In addition, the enterprise continues to place sludge on sludge beds (Class IV waste) for more than 11 months without a license. The sludge beds themselves are not included in the State Register of Waste Disposal Facilities.
OKO has still not fully paid the damages for negative environmental impact for 2024. The company is currently being taken to court to recover the funds. The municipal operator was issued a new order to eliminate the violations.
