This year, the Perm Opera Theatre will present a special program dedicated to the centennial of its first ballet production. Here«s what audiences can expect.

The first performance staged by the choreographic studio at the city theatre in 1926 was «Giselle». A century later, in March 2026, the head of the Perm Opera ballet troupe, Alexey Miroshnichenko, will present a new «Giselle» (12+).

«It will be his version of the famous stage story—with new libretto, choreography, and a score that conductor Ivan Khudyakov-Vedenyapin expanded and supplemented with fragments of Adolphe Adam»s music previously unheard in Russia. The premiere will take place in Perm on March 20, 21, and 22,« said the press service of the governor»s administration and the government of the Perm Krai.

On April 12, a gala concert will be held, featuring pieces of contemporary choreography and excerpts from «Swan Lake» (6+), «The Nutcracker» (6+), «La Bayadère» (12+), «Raymonda» (12+), and «Orpheus» (12+). The Opera house notes that these productions reflect different stages in the history of Perm ballet.

From April 15 to 26, the XIX Open Russian Ballet Artists Competition «Arabesque» (6+) will be held. Perm artists will also perform there, but the regional government has not specified which productions.

On May 26, in Rostov-on-Don, the Perm troupe will headline the International Ballet Festival named after Olga Spesivtseva. The Perm dancers will present one-act ballets: «Variations on a Rococo Theme» (12+), «Orpheus», and Ultima Thule (12+).

On June 1, the Perm troupe, as a nominee for the «Golden Mask» award, will perform «Orpheus» on the stage of the Novaya Opera in Moscow. That same evening, the dancers will present «Variations on a Rococo Theme» and Ultima Thule.

On July 31 and August 1, at the «Sirius» festival (6+) in Sochi, performances of Tchaikovsky«s »Swan Lake« will resume. On August 2, Perm soloists can be seen in the festival»s gala concert. «Swan Lake» will begin to be shown on the home stage on April 1.

In early spring in Perm, the Denis Matsuev festival will be held. The maestro himself will attend, along with Spivakov and the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre.
