The prospect of holding «Days of Yakut Cinema» in Moscow was discussed by Head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin during a working meeting on expanding the long-standing partnership between the two regions. The head of the republic wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

Aisen Nikolaev and Sergei Sobyanin met on February 3. The parties outlined plans for further development of cooperation — expanding the work of teams and development institutions of the two regions, including support for promising initiatives through venture mechanisms. Special attention was paid to creative industries, primarily cinema. In particular, they discussed the prospect of screenings of films by Yakut directors in Moscow and holding «Days of Yakut Cinema».

«Yakut films have confidently made their mark in the country and on international platforms. It is important to maintain this momentum and help Yakut cinema reach an even wider audience. Sergei Semenovich supported our proposals for further cooperation,» wrote Aisen Nikolaev.

In Yakutia, support for cinema will reach a new level this year — a special fund for support of cinema and animation will be created in the region, with a total fund size of 150–200 million rubles (approximately $1.5–$2 million at current rates). A special fund will be established.

Yakut cinema has received more than 280 awards over the past six years, gaining recognition including in Moscow. Recently, a film by Yakut director Alexei Romanov, «Legends of Eternal Snows,» entered the long list of the prestigious Russian film award «Nika.»
