August Wins Best Film at Golden Eagle Awards

On Friday, January 30, the 24th annual ceremony for the Golden Eagle awards was held in Pavilion 1 of the Mosfilm studio in Moscow. Industry representatives presented awards in 23 categories.

The film «August» was named best picture of the year, winning a total of six awards.

The Golden Eagle is Russia«s national film award, presented by the National Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Russia. It has been awarded since 2002. Nominees are selected by an expert council, and the winners are chosen by a vote of academy members.

best female role in film — Elena Lyadova («First on Olympus»);

best supporting female role — Anya Chipovskaya («The Prophet. The Story of Alexander Pushkin»);

best supporting male role — Sergei Gilev («The Prophet. The Story of Alexander Pushkin»);

best male role in film — Nikita Kologrivy, Pavel Tabakov, Sergei Bezrukov («August»).
