Yury Chekin, Murder Mastermind, Dies in Prison Hospital

Yury Chekin, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2024 for ordering the murder of KhMAO prosecutor Yury Bederin, died in a prison hospital. The former official of the regional finance department died of a stroke, a source told URA.RU.
In 2000, news spread across Yugra about the murder of prosecutor Bederin. He was shot dead in the entrance of his own house on Kominterna Street in Khanty-Mansiysk on 25 July. The law enforcement officer was killed by three shots, including one to the head. The body was found on the stairs on the second floor.
The mastermind of the murder, Yury Chekin, hid for decades in a rented apartment equipped with a gym and a porn studio, set up like a bunker, never revealing himself to law enforcement or even his relatives.
Two years ago, the 62-year-old Chekin heard his sentence, under which he was to spend his remaining years in a special-regime colony. He was serving his sentence at the «Polar Owl» colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO).
Earlier, we told the story of his crimes, which, as Chekin himself said, he had nothing to do with.
