YugraMegaSport operations chief detained for 250,000-ruble bribe

Yuri Danko, head of the operations department at the «YugraMegaSport» complex, is suspected of accepting a bribe of 250,000 rubles (approx. $2,700 at current rates). He has been placed in a pre-trial detention center until 22 March. This was reported by the Telegram channel «Courts of Yugra».
A criminal case against Danko has been initiated under clauses «b» and «c» of part 5 of Article 290 of the Russian Criminal Code (receiving a large-scale bribe by an official). The sanctions of the article stipulate a punishment of up to 12 years in prison with a fine, the report says.
According to preliminary investigation data, on 23 January, Yuri Danko, using his official position, demanded 250,000 rubles from an individual entrepreneur. In return, he allegedly guaranteed to maintain contractual relations with «YugraMegaSport» and promised not to apply mandatory requirements of federal legislation when concluding contracts.
The investigation into the criminal case continues, the publication added.
Earlier, we reported that in Nizhnevartovsk a former head of the Emergency Ministry was sentenced to three years in prison for bribery. The defendant pleaded guilty.
