Young mother on trial for strangling infant daughter
The defendant in the case is a 20-year-old woman from Yekaterinburg.
The Sverdlovsk Regional Court has begun the trial of a 20-year-old mother who killed her young daughter. The tragedy occurred on June 25 in the Yelansky Garrison. The baby was only two months old. According to the investigation, Anastasia could not bear the child«s crying.
Anastasia«s husband Danil came to the court with his lawyer, Alexander Podkorytov. He is acting as the victim in the case.
«Put yourself in his position, it»s hard for him as it is. He lost a child. It«s an unhealing wound. Not much time has passed yet,» the lawyer said.
Danil, the husband of the accused, was present in court alongside his attorney.
Initially, the young mother said that she dropped the child, got scared, and therefore fled the city. However, during the investigation, it was revealed that the cause of the baby«s death was suffocation, not a traumatic brain injury. She covered the nose and mouth with an unidentified object and prevented breathing for several seconds to several minutes.
The defendant«s face displayed visible emotions as the court session progressed.
The young mother partially admits guilt: she did not intend to kill, but it happened that way.
Immediately after the murder, she ran from home to the cemetery where her mother is buried and spent a whole hour at the grave. After that, she tried to flee the city.
According to the defendant«s sister, Anastasia had a difficult pregnancy, and in the last weeks, liver problems appeared. The girl spent a lot of time in hospitals, and this depressed her.
Relatives took the baby from the maternity hospital, while the mother remained in the clinic — she had a complication. When Nastya finally returned home, at first she did not hold her daughter. Her sister even advised her to see a psychologist, but she decided she could handle it herself. The young mother always reacted inappropriately to the child«s crying.
«She didn»t rock her daughter, but shook her; when she cried — she covered her mouth, pressed her head against herself, just so the little one wouldn«t scream. The crying caused her strong stress. In response, she would shout: »Stop, be quiet.« I would take the child, calm her down, say that she might have colic, it»s normal for a little one to cry, you can try changing positions. I then insisted again that she needed to see a psychologist. But it never came to that,« the sister shared with E1.RU.
