Woman Sold House, Then Robbed It in Ryazan

A 32-year-old resident of Ryazan filed a complaint with the Mikhailovsky Inter-District Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) about a theft from his country house in the village of Plakhino. According to Ryazan police, an unknown person broke the door and stole four power tools, a chainsaw, and a metal detector.

Police interviewed residents of Plakhino and neighboring settlements. It turned out that in a nearby village, a woman had recently sold a set of tools similar to the stolen ones for a small amount. Police officers determined that a 34-year-old resident of Plakhino was involved in the transaction. The woman was found and detained, and the stolen property was seized.

According to preliminary information, the suspect had previously sold this house to the Ryazan resident. The new owner began renovations and brought tools into the premises. The woman, experiencing financial difficulties due to alcohol addiction, remembered that valuable items were in the house. At night, she broke the door, stole the tools, and subsequently sold them in a neighboring village.

An investigator from the Mikhailovsky Inter-District Department of the MVD opened a criminal case against the suspect under Part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation («Theft»). The article carries a penalty of up to six years in prison.
