«We Hugged»: Taxi Driver Claims Reconciliation After Threatening Doctor
A Chelyabinsk taxi driver who caused a foul-mouthed scandal at a clinic and threatened a doctor has been placed under house arrest for two months. The decision was made on Wednesday, February 4, by the Central District Court. Investigators had asked to send the man to a pre-trial detention center, but at the hearing he declared reconciliation with the doctor.
The offender turned out to be a 34-year-old native of Tajikistan with dual citizenship (he obtained Russian citizenship three years ago). He works as a taxi driver, came to the clinic with his child and after the examination started a scandal with the doctor, threatening to beat and even kill him. Now, according to the taxi driver, the incident is resolved.
«We had a reconciliation at the Investigative Committee,» the offender said in a video from the court published by 31 Kanal. «We hugged. He approached me himself, apologized, and I apologized to him. I have no complaints against him from my side. And he has no complaints against me. I don’t know what else to say. The respected investigator says there was some pressure… There will be no pressure from my side.»
The man has been charged with hooliganism. Investigators asked to send him to a pre-trial detention center for two months. The court, after reviewing the materials, decided on house arrest until April 2.
«The defendant is prohibited from communicating with any persons except his lawyers, investigators, operational officers, close relatives, and medical workers,» the court said. «He is also prohibited from receiving and sending correspondence, and conducting negotiations using any means of communication — except for calling an ambulance, law enforcement, or emergency rescue services.»
Under paragraph (a) of Part 1 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism with threat of violence), penalties range from a fine of 300,000 to 500,000 rubles (approximately $3,300 to $5,500 at current exchange rates) to imprisonment for up to five years.
Recall that the enraged father started a scandal with the on-duty doctor after the doctor examined his child. A three-minute video, in which there is not even five seconds without profanity, spread across Telegram channels. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on hooliganism with threat of violence. The man was detained and taken to the Investigative Committee.
