A resident of Vladivostok who brutally stabbed his mother and sister in February 2026 was sentenced to 16 years in a colony. The 50-year-old man was charged under the article «Murder of Two Persons,» according to the Telegram channel of the regional prosecutor«s office.

During the murder, he was intoxicated. According to the prosecutor«s office, he inflicted at least 60 stab wounds on the women: 21 times on his 80-year-old mother and at least 48 times on his 58-year-old sister. She managed to call the police and ask for help.

After that, the accused attempted to commit suicide, but his attempt was interrupted. The mother and sister were alive when police and medics arrived; eyewitnesses said the victims were carried out of the entrance on stretchers, and the women were moaning. One of them died in the hospital the next day, the second — a day later.

The man will serve his sentence in a strict-regime correctional colony. The verdict has not entered into legal force, so the defense has time to appeal it, but whether it will do so is unknown.
