Veteran Suggests Attacker Fight at Front

The victim was supported in court by his comrade-in-arms
Special military operation (SVO) veteran Alexey Valeyev, who was beaten in Revda, humiliated and threatened with rape, has suggested sending repeat offender Anton Cherkasov to the special military operation. The previously imprisoned defendant attacked the serviceman in a courtyard on 26 June. The trigger was a verbal altercation; Alexey made a remark to Anton and stood up for a female acquaintance. Anton lost his temper, lunged at the veteran with his fists and beat him with his own crutch.

In court the attacker apologized many times for his behavior
At the pretrial detention hearing, Cherkasov repeatedly apologized, but the victim did not accept the apologies. He said that after all the threats he felt deeply humiliated. That evening Anton cursed at the veteran, insulted him, said he would «piss on him,» addressed him in the feminine gender, kicked him and hit him. The blows landed on the victim«s head and legs. The victim believes that instead of a colony, the attacker should be sent to the SVO.
The beating was caught on video
«I would like him to feel what it is like in our shoes, to go through all the hardships of military service during combat operations. Let him feel what it is like — to survive,» Alexey said.
Cherkasov himself sharply changed his rhetoric after his detention — from threats he moved to apologies.
This video was recorded by security forces after the detention
«I couldn«t handle my emotions, a nervous breakdown. I felt insulted. Alexey started making unfounded claims against me. Because of that I got indignant. Alexey got even more indignant. Then there was a verbal altercation,» Anton said in court. «Forgive me, guys. No matter what, no matter what happens now, I apologize to all of you for your comrade-in-arms. Sincerely, from the heart, like a man. And I say: Alexey, please forgive me, if you can.»
Dozens of comrade-in-arms came to court to support the veteran. We reported online on how the trial in Revda proceeded. Cherkasov was sent to a pretrial detention center for two months; he will remain in custody while the investigation continues. Anton faces up to seven years for hooliganism.
In court, the defendant first stated that he had no criminal record, but later clarified that his convictions were long ago expunged — he had served sentences as a minor.
We published video of the conflict in which the attacker first insults and humiliates the veteran, promises to rape and urinate on him, then hits him several times with his hands, feet and a crutch, and afterward forces the beaten man to apologize.
The conflict itself began over a girl. The Revda hooligan was enraged that Alexey asked him not to harass her.
