Two Criminals Detained for Murder of 94-Year-Old Veteran
Authorities in Chelyabinsk have detained two previously convicted men for the murder of a 94-year-old veteran. The victim was killed after refusing to lend them money, investigators said on February 2.

On February 2, regional offices of the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) reported the detention of two men, aged 27 and 28, who had been previously convicted multiple times, on suspicion of murdering 94-year-old Vladimir Dronyaev, a veteran metallurgist and honored innovator of Russia.

The veteran was attacked with a hard object and a knife, suffering multiple blows to the head and torso.

According to the investigation, on the afternoon of February 1, the suspects came to the pensioner«s apartment to ask for a loan. After he refused, one of them struck Dronyaev at least five times in the head with a hard object, and the other stabbed him seven times in the head and torso.

The suspects had asked the 94-year-old victim for a loan, and the assault occurred after he refused.

The veteran died at the scene from his injuries. His body was later found by a neighbor.
Police promptly detained both men. A criminal case has been initiated under point «zh» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code — murder by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. They face punishment ranging from 8 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
