In Yefremov, an insane 68-year-old man was sent for compulsory treatment after he nearly killed three people. This was reported by the press service of the Tula Region Prosecutor«s Office.

On October 6, 2025, at the A.I. Kozlov Hospital in the city of Yefremov, a man attacked three wardmates with an iron pipe, attempting to kill them. Medical staff who arrived in time pulled the attacker away, but he managed to deliver multiple blows to the victims« heads. A criminal case was then initiated for attempted murder.

However, although the medics managed to break up the fight, they could not save one person — he later died from the injuries sustained.

During the investigation, it was found that the attacker suffers from multiple illnesses, including organic psychotic disorder and related conditions, which manifested with pronounced mental changes.

Under the article for attempted murder of two or more people, the 68-year-old man faced up to 20 years of imprisonment. However, due to his insanity, he was relieved of criminal responsibility and will spend the rest of his life in a medical institution, a psychiatric hospital.
