A fatal road traffic accident occurred in the Lazarevsky district of Sochi in December 2025. At a pedestrian crossing, a Mercedes truck hit two men. One pedestrian was not seriously injured, while the second — a 76-year-old man — ended up under the wheels; the heavy vehicle caught him and dragged him several meters. The pensioner sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
According to the investigation, the 40-year-old truck driver fell asleep at the wheel. The investigation of the criminal case, initiated by the Investigative Department of the Sochi Police Department under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Russian Criminal Code (violation of traffic rules resulting in a person«s death through negligence), has been completed. The materials have been submitted to the court. The accused faces up to five years in prison, the Sochi Police Department»s press service reported.
