Tolyatti medical bureau corruption: 20 million rubles seized

In Samara Region, another trial will be held on corruption in the bureau of medical-social expertise. This time, the scandal has erupted in the Tolyatti division.
The former head of bureau #19 has been charged under a criminal article. She is accused of 56 episodes of receiving bribes on a significant scale.
According to the investigation, from 2016 to 2021, the accused received money through intermediaries totaling more than 2 million 700 thousand rubles (about $30,000 at current rates). The illegal reward was intended for the fictitious establishment of disability for 22 citizens by entering knowingly false and unreliable information about illnesses, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Samara Region reported.
Now, investigators are ready to send the case materials with the approved indictment to court. As part of the investigation, property worth 20 million rubles (about $222,200 at current rates) was seized from the accused.
Scandals at the Federal State Institution «Main Bureau of Medical-Social Expertise for Samara Region» have not subsided for several years. The first to face criminal prosecution was the head of the institution, Dmitry Drach. In spring 2024, he was sent to a colony for embezzlement and abuse of authority.
During the proceedings, the Bureau of Medical-Social Expertise (BMSE) was headed by Konstantin Borisov. He was detained soon after the verdict against Dmitry Drach. Borisov was suspected of receiving 600 thousand rubles (about $6,667 at current rates) from two citizens for establishing a second-group disability for them for 1 year.
