Teens assault 18-year-old in Yaroslavl, film attack

On the evening of 17 July, two minors attacked an 18-year-old man near a store on Tchaikovsky Street in the Kirovsky District of Yaroslavl. According to the police, the teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were acquainted with the victim, and the motive was personal enmity. They filmed the beating on a mobile phone camera.
According to the regional branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) for the Yaroslavl Region, one of the teenagers was detained by eyewitnesses and handed over to patrol police officers; the second was detained by criminal investigation officers several hours later. The victim was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Article 213, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism). The Yaroslavl regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee noted that one teenager was placed under house arrest, and the other was given a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions.
«At present, investigative and other actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident are ongoing,» — clarified the Investigative Committee. If their guilt is proven, the minors face up to seven years of imprisonment.
