Teenager from Irkutsk accused of preparing Moscow Region terror attack

An eleventh-grader from Irkutsk has become a suspect in two criminal cases — for treason and for preparing a terrorist attack in the Moscow Region. This was reported by RIA Novosti on February 1, citing court case materials.
«In April 2025, a court in Irkutsk sent the then-eleventh-grader to a pre-trial detention center in a case on participation in the activities of a terrorist organization. In July, a case was opened against him for justifying terrorist activities, and in September — cases for publicly calling for terrorism or justifying it, as well as for inciting terrorist activities or financing terrorism,» the publication states.
In September, a third case was opened against the accused for preparing to commit a terrorist act in the Moscow Region. In November, a treason case appeared «on the fact of providing financial assistance to a foreign organization in activities against the Russian Federation.»
RIA Novosti emphasizes that the young man «previously violated the pre-trial restraint measure imposed on him in the form of a pledge not to leave and to behave properly, and attempted to evade the pre-trial investigation body.»
