Teen sentenced to 3 years for fatal 130 km/h crash

The Novosibirsk District Court sentenced a 17-year-old driver to a juvenile correctional facility for causing the death of a girl and seriously injuring another person. The accident occurred early in the morning on July 5, 2025, on the Gusinobrodsky Tract. At that time, the then-16-year-old driver was behind the wheel of a Toyota Allion heading towards Berdsk.

The driver, traveling at a speed of at least 130 km/h, veered into oncoming traffic and first struck a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, then a Suzuki Grand Vitara traveling in the same direction. The crash killed a 17-year-old girl, and another person suffered serious bodily harm.

The Prosecutor«s Office of Novosibirsk Oblast reported that the court found the teenager guilty under paragraph »c« of Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: »Violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle, resulting through negligence in the death of a person and causing serious harm to health, committed by a person without the right to drive vehicles.«

The defendant partially admitted his guilt. He was sentenced to three years« imprisonment to be served in a juvenile correctional facility. The court also granted the victim»s claim for 1.5 million rubles (approximately $16,700 at current exchange rates). The verdict has not entered into legal force.
