A 40-year-old suspect has been sent to a pre-trial detention center in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region, accused of murder motivated by jealousy. On January 24, the court ordered him held in custody for two months.

«According to the investigation, on the evening of January 21, the man approached a car parked in the parking lot of an apartment building on Lenin Avenue in Rybinsk, opened the driver»s door, and stabbed the 32-year-old driver seated behind the wheel multiple times. The victim died at the scene from his injuries,« the Prosecutor»s Office of Yaroslavl Region reported.

The criminal case is being investigated by the Investigative Committee. It was previously reported that at the time of the crime, the 32-year-old driver was in his parked foreign-made car. The 40-year-old attacker stabbed him in the chest and neck and then fled. However, law enforcement quickly identified and detained him.

Police earlier published a video of the man«s confession. He admitted to waiting for the victim near the car.

«After work, he came and got into the car. And then I took such action,» the detainee said.

According to a source from 76.RU, the conflict between the men arose over their shared lover. Allegedly, she was cohabiting with one of them while having relationships with both.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (murder). If the man«s guilt is proven, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
