Stavropol resident stole awards from SVO fighter, buried medals in shed

From a private house in the Stavropol Territory, combat awards of a participant in the special military operation (SVO) and jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of rubles disappeared. The theft was committed by a trusted individual.
A video appeal was made by the daughter concerning the theft of her father«s medals.

According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Stavropol Territory (GU MVD), the daughter of an SVO participant contacted the police. She reported that her jewelry, as well as her father«s medals, including »For Courage«, »For Distinction in Military Service«, and »Participant in the Counterterrorist Operation in the Caucasus«, had gone missing. The total damage was estimated at about 350,000 rubles (approximately $3,900 at current rates).
Operatives quickly identified the suspect. He was a 52-year-old man who assisted the family with household chores and had unrestricted access to the home. He was taken to the police station, where he admitted guilt.
It was discovered that the perpetrator hid the stolen items by burying them in a shed on his property. The awards and jewelry were seized and will soon be returned to the rightful owner.
Criminal cases have been initiated by the investigator of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs «Turkmen» Department under Articles 158 and 324 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A measure of procedural compulsion, an obligation to appear, has been imposed on the suspect. If convicted, the man could face actual imprisonment.
