In Murmansk, a 55-year-old resident of St. Petersburg will appear before the court; he is accused of a murder committed 27 years ago.

On August 26, 1998, the man, who was working as a watchman at the time, was drinking with his 37-year-old neighbor in a warehouse at 6 Domostroitelnaya Street. During the drinking session, it emerged that the neighbor was secretly visiting the St. Petersburg man«s live-in partner.

«The accused struck the victim with his fists and improvised objects to the head and body, then attempted to strangle him with a trouser belt. The victim managed to break free and run out into the street, but the accused caught up with him and strangled him with a cord, after which the corpse was hidden with household waste and tree branches,» said the prosecutor«s office of the Leninsky District of Murmansk.

There were no necessary clues, and the crime could not be solved for a long time. Then, conclusions from forensic molecular genetic and situational medical-criminalistic examinations were obtained, new witnesses were identified and interrogated. The murderer was found, and he confessed to everything. The criminal case has been sent to court.

Recall that it was previously possible to find out who raped and killed a 13-year-old girl from Murmansk in February 1969.
