Sochi hotel administrator robs employers over day-off refusal

In Sochi, a hotel employee snapped after being refused a day off. The 34-year-old administrator, a native of Moscow, stole a work phone worth 40,000 rubles (about $450 at current rates) and transferred payments for rooms to her own account. According to the press service of the Sochi city police department, the total damage amounted to 124,000 rubles (about $1,400 at current rates).

The woman left Sochi altogether and thought she had gotten away without a trace, but criminal investigators from the Mamayka police station found her in Tuapse District, Krasnodar Krai, and brought her back.

“The phone has been seized; the money has been spent. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft). The woman faces up to five years in prison,” the statement said.
