Seven-month-old girl drowns in Khanty-Mansiysk bathtub

Investigators with the regional committee are establishing details surrounding the child’s death.
In Khanty-Mansiysk (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug—Yugra, Russia), a seven-month-old girl drowned in a bathtub. The report of the child’s death was received on 27 September. This was reported by the Sledstvennyi komitet Rossii (Investigative Committee of Russia, ICR) for Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug—Yugra.
According to investigators, the mother briefly left her daughter unattended during bathing. When she returned, she found the girl dead.
«At present, investigative actions are being carried out to establish the circumstances of what happened», — the statement said.
The agency reminded the public that infants must never be left unattended, even for a short time. They also should not be left in the care of elderly people or other children.
Earlier we reported that in Yugra a court handed down a sentence for an instructor whose actions led to a child nearly drowning in a swimming pool. The defendant was fined 150,000 rubles (about $1,500 at current rates).
