Ryazan man suspected of failing to pay child support for 171,000 rubles

According to preliminary information, the 48-year-old resident of the Zakharovsky District deliberately ignored a court order to pay child support for his daughter. The regional prosecutor«s office believes the man did nothing to find official employment and did not voluntarily help the child.

The total debt amounted to 171,000 rubles (about $1,900 at current rates). The prosecutor«s office of the Zakharovsky District has sent the criminal case to court.

«For this crime, the law provides for punishment in the form of correctional labor for up to one year, or forced labor for the same term, or arrest for up to three months, or imprisonment for up to one year,» stated the prosecutor«s office of Ryazan Oblast.
