Ryazan Court Upholds Ruling in Fatal Illegal Hunt
One of the hunters is charged with murder after a fatal illegal moose hunt in the Ryazan region.

Ryazan Regional Court reviewed the appeal filed by the regional prosecutor«s office against the decision of the Sarayevsky District Court in a case of illegal hunting with a fatal outcome. This was reported by the court»s press service.
Earlier, the district court terminated criminal prosecution against seven defendants accused of illegal moose hunting causing large-scale damage. The court established that Anatoly Yermilov, Stanislav Kostin, Viktor Ovsyankin, Andrey Panfilov, Vladimir Panfilov, Sergey Petin, and Alexey Rostov caused significant material harm to the Ministry of Natural Resources (Minprirody). All pleaded guilty and repented.
Each of the accused fully compensated the damage. Additionally, at their own expense, they equipped feeding platforms and salt licks for wild animals, provided feed, made donations to the GBU RO «LRC »Child«s Home»,« and collected charitable aid for the needs of military personnel serving in the SVO (special military operation) zone.
The Sarayevsky District Court imposed fines on the defendants ranging from 200,000 to 250,000 rubles ($2,100 to $2,600 at current rates). The appellate instance left this decision unchanged. The ruling may be appealed in the cassation court.
Earlier, a criminal case against eight men regarding a fatal hunting incident was sent to court. It includes charges of murder and illegal hunting.
Recall that on 16 May 2024, the body of Sergei Pintelin, who disappeared while hunting, was found in the Ryazan region. According to investigators, a 54-year-old local resident shot at a moose and fatally wounded the man. After that, the hunting participants took the victim«s body to a household waste landfill and buried it in the ground.
Charged with murder and illegal hunting, the former deputy head of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ryazan region, Vitaly Tsyplakov, has been arrested. The criminal case for murder is currently pending before the court.
