Reason Revealed for Return of Kaustik Director Case

In Volgograd, the reasons for the return of the case against Kaustik plant director Eldor Azizov, accused of sexual intercourse with a minor, have become known. The criminal case is being reconsidered by the Central District Court, but under a different judge.

Recall that information about the intimate relationship of the Kaustik general director with a minor appeared in anonymous Telegram channels in late October 2024. Later it became known that a criminal case was opened against Eldor Azizov under Part 1 of Article 134 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Sexual intercourse and other acts of a sexual nature with a person under 16 years of age.» The general director of Kaustik commented on the situation only once:

«I don»t know what these people are trying to achieve,« Eldor Azizov»s words were relayed by the press service of Kaustik. «I can say that I saw the victim for the first time in my life at the court hearing. I can»t comment anything else on the case while the trial is ongoing. I wouldn«t wish this on anyone; anyone can find themselves in such a situation.»

The materials of the criminal case were sent to the Central District Court of Volgograd, where Judge Roman Khomutov returned the case to the prosecutor due to the indictment being drawn up in violation of current legislation. This decision was appealed by the state prosecution, but was upheld by the Volgograd Regional Court.

«Lawyers provided evidence in court that at the time of the crime, Azizov was in a completely different place and physically could not have committed what their client is accused of,» a source familiar with the case told on condition of anonymity. «This slightly upset the investigators; they worked further, obtained evidence refuting the lawyers» assurances, and sent the case back to court. The process is now approximately halfway through, and this time, I hope, a verdict will still be reached.«
