Rapper WormGanger's wife arrested after daughter thrown from window

A 27-year-old tutor from Sergiyev Posad (Moscow Region) who threw her three-year-old daughter from a 10th-floor height turned out to be the wife of Moscow rapper WormGanger (real name Alexander Kovalev). The musician himself is currently serving a sentence for hooliganism.

The girl is in intensive care, and her mother has been arrested. What is known about the rapper whose family has been engulfed in a horrific drama? How and when did he end up in a penal colony? And what will happen to the baby who miraculously survived, whose parents are now behind bars? We report in this article.

Raised among crime

The 30-year-old rap artist Alexander Kovalev was born in Tver Region, grew up in a residential district in eastern Moscow and was the youngest son in the family. He said himself that his childhood was spent among crime. According to the musician, his older brothers and father carried weapons and let him shoot.

WormGanger«s work is considered street rap; in the scene he was even called a »criminal rapper«. As an adult, Alexander completed compulsory military service — photos of him in airborne troops (VDV) uniform appeared on social media.

WormGanger began releasing his first tracks in 2016. He later founded his own collective of musicians, HOOD2HOOD, which included Baby Melo, molodoy kaluga, Puffy Puff, Jon Garik and others.

On podcasts, Kovalev said that music did not bring him much money, and the artist reinvested most of his income into his creative work. At the same time, he was fairly well known in rap circles: he recorded joint tracks with more popular artists (for example, with OG Buda), posted photos with Pasha Tekhnik, and an interview with Kovalev and other musicians from his label gathered almost 200,000 views.

Was a happy family man

Several years ago, Alexander Kovalev married a girl from the Moscow Region named Alina (name changed — Ed. note). In 2023, they had a daughter.

«2022 took my father from me, 2023 took my cousin, but life gave me a daughter whom I love very much,» the rapper wrote, summing up the year.

In November last year, a second child appeared in the family — a son, whom the rapper named after his late friend.

The rapper did not often talk about his personal life, but mentions of his wife appeared in his Telegram channel. Sometimes he posted photos and videos together with his daughter.

The image of an exemplary family man was spoiled only by his harmful habits: the rapper admitted to an addiction to alcohol and illegal substances.

«I realized that, being dependent on alcohol and substances, I made many mistakes, causing pain and trouble to many people to whom I wish no harm at all. It is sad, but let us leave it behind and move on,» he wrote after four months of sobriety, which he spent already in custody.

Jailed over a fight

On 2 April 2026, Alexander was sentenced to two years in a penal colony under the article on hooliganism. In a video he recorded before the hearing, the rapper said: «We had a fight, it was fun.»

Later, a message appeared on his social media saying that no serious injuries were recorded among the victims. It is not specified with whom exactly the musician had the conflict.

«The victims have no recorded beatings, not even of minor severity. They were also not present at the trial, and they were paid monetary compensation. I want to warn everyone against such situations and emphasize the value of freedom,» the post says.

As MSK1.RU found out, the case arrived at the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow on 29 January. Two other defendants were in the dock alongside Kovalev. The rapper was not sent to a pretrial detention center or placed under house arrest — he continued to run his social media.

All three participants in the fight were found guilty under Article 213, Part 2 (hooliganism with the use of weapons, or committed by a group of persons). The terms received by the defendants are not specified; the sentencing document was not published.

After the hearing, WormGanger«s friends wrote that they were in shock over what had happened. The HOOD2HOOD creative collective temporarily suspended its work. They attached the card number of his wife, but after some time deleted the post so that the account would not be blocked.

«»Close ones« who did not show up either at Sanya»s trial or at his birthday, you have nothing to do with Hood2Hood anymore. Do not remain indifferent and help his family — Sanya has a wife and two small children,« wrote molodoy kaluga, a colleague and friend of the artist.

Wife moved back to her parents

Soon after the verdict was announced, Alina returned home to her parents in Sergiyev Posad. As the girl«s mother told MSK1.RU, she was in a depressive state.

«She had depression. But half of what is now written about her is untrue. The child is recovering, but of course she is in intensive care. We hope everything will be fine. We will get through it,» the grandmother of the children, who now cares for them, told MSK1.RU.

On the evening of 10 August, Alina threw her three-year-old daughter from a 10th-floor height. According to the Moscow Region prosecutor«s office, the detainee was drunk at the time of the incident. During questioning she admitted guilt but could not explain her motives.

In a video published online, the child can be heard screaming desperately: «Mama! Mommy, don»t!« In response, the woman says: »I have to ***!«

After the emergency, Alina was detained, and a criminal case was opened against her under Part 3 of Article 30, point «c» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (attempted murder of a minor). On 12 August she was sent to a pretrial detention center, where she will remain at least until 10 October.

Earlier, in Ramenskoye (Moscow Region), a 39-year-old woman and her 3-year-old son died. The mother and child fell from the window of a seventh-floor apartment. The boy leaned on a mosquito net but lost his balance and began to fall. The mother tried to save him but died herself.
