Phone Stolen at Yekaterinburg Zhiznmart Store
The phone was left at the checkout, and a few minutes later it was gone
A Yekaterinburg resident was robbed in the middle of the day at a Zhiznmart store at 2 Lenina Street. The incident occurred within a few minutes today around 3:00 p.m. Employees admitted that the store«s cameras are not working.
“I put my phone next to the terminal and paid for my purchases. Then I forgot to take it and walked out onto Lenina, crossed the road. I remembered right away, came back, but within a few minutes it had already been swiped. I turned to an employee. They just shrugged and said the store«s cameras don»t work. I was in shock,” Yevgeny told E1.RU.
According to him, he tried calling his number from another phone almost immediately, but it was already turned off.
“Of course, I«m mostly to blame myself. But I never thought there was such a mess going on in the store. The cameras don»t work, and the employees don«t watch what»s happening. If they saw someone left an item, they could have at least put it aside. It«s upsetting — the one time I literally let it out of my hands for a few minutes, and someone already coveted it. It»s not a flagship iPhone, just an ordinary mid-range Android for 30,000 rubles ($320 at current rates). But it has a bunch of contacts and photos precious only to me, which exist nowhere else,” our interlocutor lamented.
He has not yet filed a report with the police.
“I have a suspect who later approached my spot, but I still want to check street cameras. There«s a fragile hope that maybe the person will feel ashamed and return it. I»m even willing to offer a reward so I don«t have to restore all the data. Well, if not, then not — I»ll go to the police. We«ll make every effort to find the thief,” Yevgeny said.
We reached out to Zhiznmart for comment, and they said they are looking into the situation.
