Owner of collapsed shopping center in Novosibirsk sent to pretrial detention

The owner of the shopping center that collapsed in the Pervomaysky District has been sent to pretrial detention until March 22. The court made this decision today, January 23.

Sergey Turkov has been charged with providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in a person«s death (subpoints »a« and »v« of part 2 of article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code). As a result of the roof collapse, one man died and two women were injured.

Sergey Turkov«s lawyers requested a milder preventive measure. They insisted that the businessman cooperated with the investigation and provided all documents. The Novosibirsk resident was also ready to provide assistance to the relatives of the deceased.
