Novomoskovsk Post Office Chief Fined for Embezzling 146,000 Rubles

The Novomoskovsk District Court has sentenced a former head of a post office, finding her guilty of embezzling entrusted funds using her official position. The court«s press service reported this.

According to the court, the woman worked as the head of a post office in Novomoskovsk and was a financially responsible person. Between March 4 and March 31, 2026, she took money from the safe and cash register in several installments. The total damage caused to Russian Post (Pochta Rossii) amounted to 145,787 rubles (approximately $1,600 at current rates).

The court found the woman guilty under Part 3 of Article 160 of the Russian Criminal Code — embezzlement or misappropriation committed by a person using their official position. The article«s penalty provides for up to six years of imprisonment.

In the end, she was fined 250,000 rubles (approximately $2,800 at current rates). In addition, the court granted the civil lawsuit and ordered the convict to pay 145,787 rubles ($1,600) to Russian Post as compensation for material damage.

Until the sentence takes legal effect, the woman was ordered to remain under a written pledge not to leave and to maintain proper behavior.
