Nizhnevartovsk's chief city planner arrested in corruption case

In Nizhnevartovsk, former director of the City Capital Construction Department Marcel Shadiyev has been arrested. He is accused of abuse of authority resulting in grave consequences and repeatedly receiving large bribes, according to the press service of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug court system.

On January 30, the Nizhnevartovsk City Court ordered Shadiyev to be held in custody for two months — until March 27. The court had grounds to believe that without such a preventive measure, the former official might try to evade investigation, destroy evidence, or pressure witnesses.

Marcel Shadiyev headed the Nizhnevartovsk Capital Construction Department in October 2024. He has now been dismissed from his position.

Recall that the criminal case against the head of the Capital Construction Department became known in August 2025. According to the investigation, Shadiyev, while serving as director, from November 2024 to July 2025, advanced funds for the construction of the Martial Arts Center, while the developer did not provide the necessary documents. The deadlines for the project«s completion were repeatedly postponed, and the contract with the contractor, the company »Energostroykompleks«, was terminated.

Earlier we reported that the head of the operation department of «YugraMegaSport» was detained on suspicion of taking a bribe of 250,000 rubles (approximately $2,800 at current rates).
