A court in Moscow arrested a 43-year-old man who stabbed and nearly killed his wife and son. The capital«s prosecutor»s office and the Investigative Committee (SK) reported on the choice of pre-trial measure.

On Monday evening, he got drunk and attacked his family in an apartment on Lineiny Proezd in the Timiryazevsky district of Moscow. His wife and son were hospitalized after stab wounds. In court, the man asked not to be sent to prison but to be placed under house arrest.
According to media reports, the fight started in the apartment, after which the drunk head of the family ran after his wife and son into the stairwell. The 14-year-old child tried to protect his mother and received more injuries. The man was allegedly under observation at a clinic and was in an unstable mental state; he worked as a consultant at an optics store owned by his wife.
He is currently charged with attempted murder of two or more persons (Part 3 of Article 30, point «a» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). For murder, one can be deprived of liberty for a term from eight to twenty years; the punishment for attempt in this case will be known after the investigation and trial are completed.
