Police detained a 34-year-old man who caused a scandal with obscene language and threatened a doctor at one of Chelyabinsk«s clinics. He was taken to the Investigative Committee (IC) department on February 2, as reported by the regional departments of the IC and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The detainee has no prior criminal record, obtained Russian citizenship three years ago, and works as a taxi driver.
The Investigative Committee stated: «Officers of the territorial police department together with an investigator from the regional IC have identified a 34-year-old man who committed hooliganism at a medical institution. A search was conducted at his place of residence, and the man was interrogated as a suspect.»
Currently, the investigator is deciding on filing charges and choosing a preventive measure. The incident occurred when an angry father caused a scandal with the duty doctor after his child was examined. A three-minute video, laden with swear words, quickly spread on Telegram channels.
On this basis, the IC initiated a criminal case under the article on hooliganism with the threat of violence.
According to clause «a» of Part 1 of Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code, such a crime is punishable by a fine of 300,000 to 500,000 rubles (approximately $3,000 to $5,000 at current rates) or imprisonment for up to five years.
