Kuzbass Imposes First Fine for Searching Extremist Content

In Kemerovo Oblast, a criminal case was initiated for searching information about an organization recognized as terrorist in Russia. Police reported on Monday, February 2, about the first case in the region of holding someone accountable under this article.
Law enforcement officials said that the search was conducted by a 16-year-old teenager from Myski, who studies at a local technical college. The student searched for materials online for ten months in 2025 related to the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation.
The young man not only searched for information but also saved symbols and attributes of the organization in one of the messengers and on his phone. How law enforcement discovered this was not specified.
The teenager was punished with a fine. The city commission for minors« affairs in Myski decided that he must pay 3,000 rubles (approximately $33 at current rates), but since he is a minor, his legal representative will pay.
Earlier, the editorial board of NGS42.RU reported about the owner of two largest businesses in the region, who was recognized as an extremist.
