Krasnoyarsk mother sent for compulsory treatment after stabbing son
A Krasnoyarsk mother has been committed to psychiatric care after stabbing her young son with a knife.
A Krasnoyarsk woman who repeatedly stabbed her three-year-old son and then wounded herself has been sent for compulsory treatment. This was reported by the regional prosecutor«s office.
Prosecutors stated that the woman was not criminally responsible due to her mental illness.
According to previously published information, after the incident, both the 37-year-old woman and her son were hospitalized. Both fell into a coma, but doctors assessed the child«s condition as stable. Now, as clarified by the prosecutor»s office, the boy lives in Uzhur (Krasnoyarsk Krai) with his aunt and does not remember how many times his mother stabbed him, but he was in a lot of pain.
His mother was charged with attempted murder. During the investigation, the Krasnoyarsk woman said that she has been ill since 2018 but stopped taking the necessary medication. It is recalled that she was registered with a psychiatrist, but their family was not on preventive monitoring.
The woman was often troubled by thoughts that she was not taking good enough care of her child, and for this reason, she wounded herself and then the child, who asked his mother to stop.
“In court, she thanked law enforcement officers and doctors for saving the child, asked for forgiveness, said that she loves her son very much and is ready to undergo treatment,” added the prosecutor«s office.
Also, the department noted that at the moment of the attempt, the woman did not realize what she was doing, so she was released from criminal responsibility and sent to a specialized psychiatric hospital.
It is recalled that this horrific incident occurred in August 2025 in the Zheleznodorozhny District of Krasnoyarsk. As investigators then reported, the woman stabbed her three-year-old son in the back with a kitchen knife and inflicted «self-harm» with the same knife.
The incident became known to a local police officer who was conducting a preventive round of the dormitory. Investigators clarified that the woman opened the door for him, and he heard the child crying inside the room. The police added that the woman told their officer what she had done.
Moreover, as added by the prosecutor«s office, she inflicted the blows in the kitchen, and then— carried him to the sofa and covered him with a blanket.
Earlier, NGS24.RU reported that on the eve of October 29, another mother who killed her children was sent for compulsory treatment. This refers to a woman from Kansk who in the spring of 2025 took the lives of her three children.
