Investigative Committee Opens Case Over Sochi Kindergarten Abuse
The criminal case was opened after media reports of physical violence against children.
In Sochi, at the direction of the head of the Investigative Committee for the Krasnodar Krai, a criminal case has been opened in connection with an incident at a kindergarten. This was reported by the press service of the regional Investigative Committee.
— «Information was disseminated in the media that in one of the kindergartens in Sochi, employees of the preschool institution systematically used physical violence against children. On the instructions of the head of the Investigative Committee for Krasnodar Krai, Andrey Maslov, the investigative department for the Central District of Sochi has opened a criminal case on charges of crimes under Articles 117 and 156 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (torture and failure to fulfill obligations for the upbringing of a minor),» — the statement said.
A representative of the Investigative Committee is carrying out the necessary investigative actions, and all circumstances of the incident are being established. The investigator has seized recordings from surveillance cameras, including with the aim of identifying other instances of torture. The progress of the criminal investigation is being monitored by the head of the regional Investigative Committee, Andrey Maslov.
Recall that parents of pupils with developmental disabilities filed a complaint with the police stating that the children were subjected to beatings and abuse. As a result of an internal investigation, the educators were fired.
