Intoxicated Haval driver bribes inspector with gold chain

In Saratov, an intoxicated car driver attempted to give a bribe to a DPS (State Traffic Safety Inspectorate) inspector «in the form of an item made of an alloy of precious metals.» Details of the crime were reported by the regional Investigative Committee (SK).

Near a house on Sokolova Street in Saratov on 26 December 2025, traffic police officers stopped a car. Inside was a 32-year-old man who handed a bribe to one of the police officers using an «item made of an alloy containing precious metals» worth 50,000 rubles ($555).

However, the police detained the man and processed him. Subsequently, investigators from the Investigative Committee for the Volzhsky District (SK) opened a case against him under Part 3 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (UK RF) — giving a bribe to an official. Under this article, the defendant faces up to eight years in prison.

According to a law enforcement source who spoke to 164.RU, the driver was driving a Haval car and tried to bribe with a gold chain. In the file of the Volzhsky District Court, there is a case that was submitted to Judge Denis Panteev on 30 January. The defendant in the case is Alexei Prokhorov, and his lawyer is listed as Oleg Bormintsev.
