Guard punished after inmate's pipe attack in Novosibirsk colony
A guard«s negligence allowed one inmate to attack another with a metal pipe in a prison bathhouse.
A former employee of a correctional colony in the Chistoozerny District received a suspended sentence for negligence. The verdict was delivered by the Kupinsky District Court, according to the press service of the Novosibirsk Region courts of general jurisdiction.
The incident occurred in November 2024. During an inspection, a junior inspector of the security department«s supervision group at the correctional colony (IK) did not conduct a full search. As a result, one of the inmates managed to hide a metal pipe under his clothes and bring it into the bathhouse complex.
There, the inmate attacked another prisoner and beat him with the pipe — the victim sustained serious injuries.
A criminal case was opened against the guard for negligence that resulted in the infliction of serious harm through carelessness (Part 2 of Article 293 of the Russian Criminal Code). The former colony employee received a one-and-a-half-year suspended sentence.
Earlier, the court changed the sentence for the Haval hooligans without license plates — they beat up a serviceman near the walls of the NVI.
