Granddaughter of former Samara mayor shows change after year in detention

February 3, 2025 will mark exactly one year since the Samara District Court chose a pre-trial restriction for Ekaterina Tarkhova. The granddaughter of the former mayor faces a whole «bouquet» of charges:

murder of two or more persons;

fraud on a large and especially large scale;

theft and theft from a bank account;

forgery of documents.

During this time, the Samara District Court has extended the pre-trial restriction for the accused several times. A year has passed, and now judges at the regional level considered the investigators« request. Over 12 months, the story has acquired new details, and the criminal case has new defendants. Unfortunately, not all of them have been arrested.

Such a long period under arrest cannot but leave its mark on a person. Look at these two photos. One of them was taken at the very beginning of the preliminary investigation. The second one is from February 2, 2026, a year into the investigation.

At the last hearing, it was suggested that the preliminary investigation would soon end. According to the prosecution, they only need to receive the results of two final expert examinations. After that, preparations will begin to transfer the criminal case to court. At this stage, Ekaterina Tarkhova and her lawyers will review the materials. Then all 20 volumes will be sent for further consideration.

According to the latest information, four people may be involved in the disappearance without a trace of Viktor Tarkhov and his wife. The prosecution considers Ekaterina Tarkhova and Dmitri Metreveli to be the direct perpetrators. According to the investigation, they acted under the direction of Svetlana Metreveli. And Taisiya Kiseleva (is under house arrest — Editor«s note) could have helped the young people dispose of the property of Viktor and Natalya Tarkhov.

Despite the imminent end of the preliminary investigation, there are still many questions in the story of the former Samara mayor«s disappearance. The main one is: where are the remains of the former mayor and his wife? After all, they have still not been found.
