Gas leak in Vidnoye claims three lives

Three people died due to a gas leak in Vidnoye, Moscow Region, on Sadovaya Street, according to the Moscow Region prosecutor«s office. In a first-floor apartment, the bodies of two men were found, and on the floor above—the corpse of an 82-year-old pensioner and his unconscious wife. She was hospitalized.

Preliminarily, all of them were poisoned by carbon monoxide due to a malfunction of a gas water heater on the first floor. According to REN TV, the two deceased men were workers.
«In the house on Sadovaya Street, the bodies of three people were found. Also, the 77-year-old homeowner was injured,» a source told journalists.
According to the Regions portal, the woman called an ambulance when she felt unwell. It is likely that the elderly couple hired two workers for repairs, and they turned on a gas stove at night to warm up.
The Vidnoye City Prosecutor«s Office is investigating all circumstances. A criminal case has been initiated under the article »Causing death by negligence« (Article 109 of the Criminal Code).
Earlier in Moscow, traffic was blocked due to a gas leak in a multi-story building in Severnoye Chertanovo, with dozens of service vehicles arriving at the scene. Local residents reported that workers hit a gas pipe and there was a smell on the street. Mosgaz then reported that the leak was quickly eliminated.
