FSB busts cybercriminal gang for Gosuslugi hack

A cross-regional criminal group that used the Gosuslugi portal to take out loans on behalf of citizens was detained by officers of the FSB Directorate for Transbaikalia (Zabaykalsky Krai). This was reported to Chita.Ru by the press service of the agency on February 5.

It was established that since 2023, members of the group had illegally gained access to citizens« personal accounts on Gosuslugi, through which they took out loans from various microcredit and microfinance organizations. They then funneled the borrowed money through a chain of bank accounts and used it for personal purposes.

In addition, they were involved in the illegal trafficking of personal data of Russian citizens, accounts, «gray» SIM cards, and bank cards for later use in criminal activity. Among the victims are veterans of the Special Military Operation (SVO).

The gang members are currently in custody. Searches were conducted at their places of residence and temporary stays, during which phones, computer equipment, SIM cards, bank cards, and portable storage devices with traces of criminal activity were seized.
