FSB arrests Chita woman with 5,000 drug doses
A court found a 27-year-old resident of Chita guilty of illegal drug trafficking and sentenced her to 13 years in prison, Chita.Ru reported, citing the press service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) Directorate for Zabaykalsky Krai.
The defendant, lacking stable employment, found an online offer for quick money and agreed to work as a courier and stash dealer. She was caught red-handed by FSB officers while attempting to retrieve a package containing a large quantity of narcotics from a hiding spot.
«It was established that the defendant, lacking stable employment, found an online offer for quick money and agreed to work as a courier and stash dealer. The young woman packaged the illegal substances and made «stashes» in sparsely populated areas of the city and the region, reporting to a supervisor on her work. The total amount of drugs seized from the defendant would have been enough for 5,000 doses,» the FSB said.
The Chernovsky District Court found the defendant guilty under Part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, «Illegal sale of narcotics on an especially large scale,» and sentenced her to 13 years in a general-security penal colony. The court also confiscated 550,000 rubles (about $6,300 at current exchange rates), as well as a car and a mobile phone, which were recognized as instruments of the crime. The verdict has not yet entered into force.
