Former Minister of Entrepreneurship, Trade and Tourism of the Voronezh Region Gennady Shvyrkov has had his pre-trial measure changed. He has been placed under house arrest, the Leninsky District Court reported to Voronezh1.ru.
He will remain under house arrest until April 4. Since July, the former minister had been in pre-trial detention. Recall, Shvyrkov was detained on July 9 — the day after his dismissal as minister. He is charged under the Russian Criminal Code article on fraud on an especially large scale.
According to the investigation, Gennady Shvyrkov in 2025 embezzled at least 4.8 million rubles (approximately $53,300 at current rates) together with «other persons from among employees of the executive bodies of state power and local self-government bodies of the Voronezh Region.» The money was intended for payments to those who attract citizens to sign contracts with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
