Father Brutally Murders Young Son in Tyumen Region

The 1990s in Russia were quite criminal. Criminals roamed the streets, and more serious people provided protection rackets for businesses. Typically, many journalistic materials were related to various showdowns between gangsters. But the crime reports also included outrageous cases, such as when a father could stab his own son. This is exactly what we will discuss — we tell the story that in 1999 was revealed to Tyumen viewers by the team of the TV show «Chernyaya Koshka» (Black Cat).

«Chernyaya Koshka» aired on television for almost 12 years. It was a Tyumen show that featured exclusive video materials: court case reports, operational summaries, criminal chronicles. Journalists also made special episodes about high-profile cases. We describe one of them.

«Nizhnyaya Tavda is a small town. Bloody crimes rarely occur here. However, as in all large and small settlements of our criminal homeland, Tavda has its own murderers, rapists, and robbers. Sometimes they are caught, sometimes not. The local population is no longer shocked by this, they are used to it. But the crime committed in Nizhnyaya Tavda several months ago agitated everyone,» — this is how another special episode of «Chernyaya Koshka» began.

A feature of small towns, as the journalists assured, was that everyone knew each other. Many in the town knew about the Pustovalov family — a man named Oleg, his wife Elena, and their little son Anton, who was three and a half years old.

«He will now always be three and a half years old. Because one day Oleg Pustovalov returned from his shift and took the child to kindergarten. In the evening, Oleg picked up Anton from the kindergarten and brought him home, to the apartment on Lenin Street. There are no witnesses to what happened later, but there are the statements of Pustovalov himself and material evidence. The investigation established that Pustovalov hit the capricious child once or twice, after which he flew into a rage,» — they tell in the TV show.

Next follows a terrible account of the murder of the little boy, which was read out by the judge in the video chronicle.

«When he went to the kitchen, took a knife, returned to his son»s room, removed his underpants. He started screaming even more, which angered him,« — a man on the video read from a paper.

The further actions of the man are described in the show — the horrifying details can be learned there. After the murder, the man changed clothes, washed up, and covered his son with a blanket.

The father of the child was recognized as completely sane.

Relatives also said that the family had generally healthy relationships, they were quite ordinary people who quarreled and made up. The little boy loved his father very much, even though he saw him rarely — the man practically constantly worked and was in the family «on visits.»

Investigating this murder, even experienced investigators could not hold back their emotions; it was morally difficult for them. As told in the show, restrained law enforcement officers made a note in the criminal case «Not provided for by any rules.» And under the boy«s photo, the investigator wrote »Here he is, Pustovalov Anton.«

«The child loved him because he remembered his dad. And he always waited for him — that my daddy should come. Other than daddy, he never called him anything else,» — said people who knew the family.

Other relatives stated the same.

«During the reading of the verdict, the rather spacious hall of the Nizhnetavdinsky Court could not accommodate all those who wanted to attend. And so the verdict was announced. The punishment was determined as deprivation of liberty for a term of 20 years,» — they told in the show.

At the same time, the man himself initially insisted on the highest measure of punishment, and in a conversation with journalists named another term — 30 years. Later, he intended to file a cassation appeal for a review of the verdict. As the journalists assured — in the direction of mitigation.

«Anton Pustovalov was buried at the Nizhnetavdinsky cemetery next to the grave of his grandfather, Nikolai Dmitrich Altufyev. It»s good that Nikolai Dmitrich did not live to see the day when Anton was lowered into the grave,« — this is how they ended their narrative in »Chernyaya Koshka.«
