Ex-SK officer tried for attempted sale of 7 kg of synthetic drugs

A court in Kemerovo is hearing the case of an attempt to sell a large batch of narcotics, in which a former employee of the Investigative Committee (SK) is accused. Sources in law enforcement told NGS42 on Tuesday, 21 July, what sentence the man faces.

According to the sources, the ex-investigator has been charged under three articles of the Russian Criminal Code: attempted sale on a significant scale, attempted sale on a large scale, and sale of narcotics on a large scale.

The minimum sentence for the former SK employee is 10 years in prison; the maximum punishment is 20 years in a strict-regime colony. In addition, fines of up to 1 million rubles (approximately $11,000 at current exchange rates) are possible.

The source added that the man cooperated with his now-former colleagues, and the judge may take this into account when issuing the verdict.

NGS42 previously reported that during a «controlled purchase,» investigator of especially important cases Vyacheslav Antonov was detained. Sources said the man allegedly had more than seven kilograms of banned substances.
